Precision Lightweight 6061 Gimbal Frame with Hollow Structure and Deep-Hole Position Control

We successfully manufactured a precision lightweight 6061 aluminum hollow gimbal frame for a UAV gimbal system application. This complex structural component presented significant machining challenges — including upper-to-lower center boss coaxiality control, multi-directional U-slot positioning accuracy, deep-hole position tolerance managementetthin-wall edge deformation prevention during drilling operations. Through optimized machining sequences, custom toolpath strategies, and precision fixturing, we delivered dimensionally stable gimbal frames meeting all geometric and positional requirements.

    • Backed Drilling Support: Custom fixturing with sacrificial backing supports thin-wall sections during drilling, preventing edge burring, deformation, and collapse.
    • Optimized Drilling Parameters: Controlled feed rates and specialized drill geometries minimize cutting forces on thin-wall sections, eliminating edge roll-over and burr formation.

Vérification qualité

Each component underwent comprehensive inspection using CMM measurement for coaxiality (≤0.015mm), U-slot positioning accuracy (±0.02mm), and deep-hole position verification, supplemented by visual and microscopic inspection of thin-wall hole edges to confirm burr-free, deformation-free conditions.
