We successfully manufactured a precision 6061 aluminum UAV heading arm for an unmanned aerial vehicle structural application. This large bent structural component features complex curved surfaces and an enclosed circular cavity — presenting significant machining challenges including stress-induced distortion during large bent structure machining, curved surface wall clean-out, finishing challenges on contoured surfaces, and machining confined enclosed circular cavities. Through stress-relief machining sequences, specialized toolpath strategies, vibration control, and custom tooling, we delivered dimensionally stable heading arms with clean, finished surfaces.
