We manufactured a precision 7075 aluminum oil pump valve body for an automotive fuel system application. This fluid control component features intricate internal curved oil cavities that direct flow within the pump assembly — presenting a core machining challenge: precise control of internal cavity surface geometry and finish. 7075-T6 aluminum offers exceptional strength (comparable to steel) but carries significant internal stresses from heat treatment [citation:12]. When machining complex internal geometries, uneven stress release can cause distortion, while the alloy's hardness generates higher cutting forces that affect surface finish [citation:2][citation:7]. We implemented adaptive toolpath strategies with controlled radial engagement and optimized cutting parameters — managing cutting forces to prevent cavity surface defects while maintaining geometric accuracy.
| Project Name | 7075 Aluminum Oil Pump Valve Body |
| Key Metric | Specification |
| Internal Cavity Surface Roughness | Ra≤1.6μm (curved oil passages) |
| Dimensional Tolerance | ±0.015mm (critical interface features) |
| Material | Aluminum 7075-T6 |
| Surface Treatment | As-machined |
| Machining Process | Precision CNC milling |
CMM inspection verified cavity geometry and dimensional tolerances. Surface roughness testing confirmed Ra≤1.6μm on all internal curved oil passages.
Ideal for automotive oil pump valve bodies, hydraulic fluid control components, and high-pressure fluid distribution systems.
