We manufactured a precision PA46 test interface fixture for a semiconductor handler application. PA46 (Stanyl®) delivers 295°C melt stability and 87-105 MPa tensile strength, but its 2.8% moisture uptake at 50% RH makes precision machining a constant battle against dimensional creep. Our approach: a two-stage clamping strategy — firm hold for roughing, reduced pressure for finishing — paired with a 24-hour ambient stabilization cycle between operations. Climate control at 20±1°C and 45% RH prevented hygroscopic swelling during processing. Ultra-sharp diamond-coated tooling with positive rake geometry kept cutting forces low, eliminating burnishing and surface defects. The result: PA46 fixtures holding ±0.015mm tolerances with ≤0.01mm flatness, delivered burr-free and ready for IC socket integration.
| Project Name | PA46 Semiconductor Test Interface Fixture |
| Key Metric | Specification |
| Dimensional Tolerance | ±0.015mm (critical interface features) |
| Flatness | ≤0.01mm (mounting surfaces) |
| Surface Roughness | Ra≤1.6μm (machined surfaces) |
| Material | PA 4.6 (Polyamide 46 / Stanyl® PA46) |
